PRESENTS TO GIVE AND TO RECEIVE & 2021 RESOLUTIONS FROM PEOPLE WE LOVE >
A meteorite casually named after your sister or a tie-dye blanket from recycled cashmere? It’s on their list! Moving - aspirational - funny or very practical: a gifting list from folks we admire. In addition, they shared what they’d like to improve, achieve & cultivate next year. Feel the warmth of upcoming holidays, even if you are emailing a scanned do-it-yourself card. These are things on people’s mind >
AMI LASSER > sweet, 90’s obsessed girl that is also director of women’s buying at Ron Herman. Lives, loves & works in Los Angeles. Here is her gifting wishlist.
“For 2021 I would like to see the world slow down and remember that what we were doing before wasn’t working. Being more mindful of what we buy. Buying things that last. Quality over quantity and support brands that are eco-friendly.”
JENDA ALCORN > jet-setting hair expert & a beautiful human being who is raising homeless cats when not traveling the world braiding Fanning sisters’ locks. What is she giving this year?
“My wish for 2021 is more Empathy. I’d like to see people TRY to have more love, compassion, and empathy for one another. We’ve been through a collective trauma and it’s what we need to heal. ❤️✌️”
RUTA KISKYTE > art director and production designer who once was creating cool jewelry from tiny plastic berries with micro hands & legs. And now makes her magic by designing for Adidas and Ssense ads. Here is what she is interested in.
“My plan for 2021 is to be an adult but also a five year old.”
ALANA HADID > activist and Los Angeles it-girl who designs cool distressed sweatshirts and delivers cakes to medical workers. Her stocking stuffer.
“In 2021 I want people to remember the humanity they found in 2020, the spirit of giving back and take better care of each other, their community and themselves. I hope I get to travel and hug my friends and family and we all continue to grow.”
JO ROSENTHAL > the funniest Instagram artist who redefined influencer’s status by making poetry from everyday moments. What she would like for this holiday.
Jo’s 2021 resolutions:
1) “think less, do more.”
2) “volunteer around my neighborhood more.”
3) “think more, do less.”
4) “don’t take things too seriously, or without asking.”
5) “try to get bullied less.”
6) “donate where I can, when I can.”
AUDREY GLASS > eyebrow wonder-kid who built her little empire after moving to LA from Canada. Her business-savvy impresses everyone. Here are very practical things from her list.
Audrey’s 2021 resolution list:
1) “make time for self care.”
2) “continue going to therapy.”
3) “spend more time outside. Fresh air & vitamin D has been so great for my mental health.”
4) “reduce my time spent on social media / electronic devices.”
5) “go on more road trips.”
6) “create at-home date nights with my husband.”
7) “volunteer at an animal shelter.”
BOJANA TATARSKA DAUVERS > former model turned sought-after sensual photographer. From Bulgaria, lives and works in Paris. A true dreamer’s list.
“2020 was intense and generous. Thanks to lockdown I was able to dedicate myself to my personal work, still in the field of photo and video. The fragmented mental focus, as well as the absurd poetry of time spent with my child, turned into work material and not an obstacle to overcome. I think the future of art and culture will be a link to the world more reasonable and thus more breathable, and open. More socially directed, more intensive. Authentic. For me 2020 in one word, was DECONSTRUCTION. I wish 2021 was RESONANCE. And I absolutely believe in IMPERMANENCE.”
