MOM'S DAY GIFT-LIST >
[extended*] till Mother’s day 2021 - because we love our moms so much…
During “no one needs anything”* corona time you’d still want to manifest your emotion with a gift. Small, do-it-yourself, thought-through, indisposable, something to remember. We made a cheat sheet of 10 ideas and of course, included a couple of pieces JUNETHINGS jewelry.
*(ABSURD SIMPLICITY is something I will talk about in my next edit!)
1) UNUSUAL FLOWER ARRANGEMENT > look at Lisa Cooper work and get inspired. Simply genius >
2) JUNETHINGS PIECES. If you are based in Los Angeles, please contact us at shop@junethings.com and we will deliver the purchase the same day to your doorstep.
// RASPBERRY COLOR GARNET is changing hues accordingly to the daylight. Pendant is made in LA (specifically in Beverly-Hills by skillful jewelers working with big old brands). Grape Garnet gemstone is sourced from Orissa (Eastern India) and isn’t treated or heated to enhance the color. It was also mined and faceted ethically. Will look perfectly by itself or layered with other pendants or necklaces.
// TIMELESS PERFECTION WEIMAR necklace: when you put it on, no way you will ever take it off. Weimar was the birthplace of the Bauhaus movement. When I was a kid, my grandmother would travel alone by car (chainsmoking at the wheel) from the Baltics to Weimar and always bring back some fascinating jewelry that later I would pick apart sitting on the floor next to her dressing-table. We will include a silver-polish cloth with this purchase.
// SUPER MINIMAL BASEBALL EARRINGS: go with everything, don’t get into your hair, you can leave them in for the night (I never do, but some people live in their jewelry!), you can shower in them or make love.
// VERY COOL VINTAGE LOOKING earrings. Remind me a bit of Doctor Birx earrings that she wears for taskforce meetings pairing them with her bun and her Hermès scarf. “A perfectly calibrated vision of comfort and intelligence”, said Robin Givhan from WP. A very nice uniform - we say.
3) MAKE A DIY CARD > I got myself an e-pencil in January with the idea of bringing my cut-out collages to the next level. It started in 2002 after I dissected a photo of me and my then-boyfriend taken during our first-together-vacation. Taken apart it was reconstructed with different texture and color patches from magazines, old bills, and dry leaves. Use whatever you have at home. Digital pencil gives you so much new ways of artistic freedom and meditative calm when you stroke that lit pixel surface with even brushes or go crazy to vent the feelings. Old photos, newspapers, little souvenirs, broken friendship bracelets, or anything else sitting in your “old but precious” shoebox will do.
